REplay: Shara Worden and yMusic

15 May
(This is a post from about a year ago.  I just love, love, love this little tune, and wanted to re-play it for all you new friendlies who have joined me over the past year.  Hope you like it, too.)
Good music is a huge motivator for me.  I stumbled onto this gem yesterday, and it’s been stuck in my head ever since.
If you dig it, visit their kickstarter page here, and give these fabulous musicians a boost if you can – either through funds, or simply spreading the word about them through FB/Blog/Twitter…whatever!  Support the arts!

Dance Anthem of the 80′s/Eet

30 Mar

Regina Spektor is on my list of favorite musicians.  I’m super, super stoked about her new album coming out in May.  ’Till then, here’s a little bit of Regina doing what she does oh-so-well.  Enjoy!

P.S.

Thanks to a head’s up from the super-fabulous Hubster, I had to add this one last minute – a little taste of what’s to come on her new album!

Okay, so I really, really, really, really HATE ultimatums…

But if you don’t dig this video, I’m not sure we can be friends anymore.

Love, Mynniesue

…everybody should know how frigging AWESOMESAUCE they are.

…I’m still buzzing from the show they put on in Wichita Sunday night…

Here is a YouTube encore of the Avett Bros. doing what they do OH SO WELL.

(This is SweetZ’s all-time favorite song!)

(I dare you not to dance to this one!)

Click here to check out The Avett Brothers website. Hopefully you can nab some tickets for a concert close to you – these guys put on a ridiculously great show!

Christmas, Coldplay, Christmas Lights

13 Dec

I love Christmas.

I love Coldplay.

I love Christmas lights.

Last year Coldplay did a song called Christmas Lights.

Stop looking into my soul, you boys across the pond!

Merry, merry, y’all.

*Christmas hugs*

Quick Giggle: Flight of the Conchords: Business Time

Oh, how I miss New Zealand’s second most popular folk parody duo.

Heineken: Commercial Perfection

27 Oct

I love good commercials. For a girl with a short attention span, commercials are like fried heaven on a stick. I especially love good commercials that feature good music.

Check out ‘The Entrance’ by Heineken. Clever, funny, and visually engaging, this commercial has me hooked from the get-go. Add in a little tune by the Asteroids Galaxy Tour, and you’ve got gold, Jerry! Gold.

What are your favorite song/commercial combos? Fave commercials in general? (And please, for the love of Pete and his pet raccoon, tell me that I’m not the only one who cries over the commercial for Google where the dad creates an email account for his daughter, sending her emails all the years she’s growing up, waiting for the day she can finally read and understand how much he loves her. Uh-oh. Pregnancy hormones coming on. The weeping is starting. The hubster is throwing me cautious glances. This parenthesis has gone on waaaay too long.)

Commence with the commenting!

(Hey, ps. If you like Asteroids Galaxy Tour, do something about it! Good music is meant to be shared! Tell your friends, buy their albums, go see ‘em live. Support the arts and the artists you love!)

Willie Nelson: The Scientist

21 Oct

Love this:

Willie Nelson + Timeless Music + Chipotle + Fabulous Message = Music/Commercial Deliciousness

Thoughts?

(p.s.  The song is available in its entirety on itunes.  It’s awesome.  Support the arts and the artists you love.)

MMM: Punch Brothers

17 Oct

I’m a sucker for acoustic music.

Much to the hubsters chagrin, I’m also a sucker for bluegrass.

Punch Brothers play bluegrass, but bluegrass with a kick in the pants.  Some of what they do is uber-bluegrassy.  Some of what they do bears only a small resemblance to the genre.  But everything they do, they do so, so well.

I<3 Punch Brothers.  They play good music.  And what do we say about good music, friendlies?  Share it!

The first video is what hooked me.  I hope it will hook you!  It’s just a taste of the second movement of The Blind Leaving the Blind from their first album, Punch.  The music is haunting, and it’s stuck with me from day one.  The second video is from their second album, Antifogmatic, released last year.  The song is Alex, and is a little more lighthearted than the first.  The third is Rye Whiskey, another song from their second album.  The bluegrass in ‘em really shines here.

Have a look, give ‘em a listen, and if you like what you see/hear, do something about it!  Buy their albums (the second is available on vinyl – yummy!), go see them in concert, tell your friends.  Support the arts and the artists you love!
