(1) Nothing smells quite as good as a freshly bathed baby.
(2) Sonic, hands down, has the best Coke.
(3) The smell of freshly cut grass never, ever gets old.
(4) If momma ain’t happy, ain’t no-one happy.
(5) There is nothing – absolutely nothing – that can compete with a prairie sky at sunset. Ever.
(6) Sometimes all a girl needs a good, hard cry.
(7) A clean kitchen sink makes for a better day.
(8) Thinking about hot yoga is different than doing hot yoga. Very different.
(9) Freshly washed high thread-count sheets at the end of the day make going to sleep easy and getting up hard.
(10) If I had balls, coffee’d have me by ’em.
(11) I’m so, so grateful to be done with the minefield that is adolescence. And I’m terrified of guiding my kids through that same minefield.
(12) Some of the world’s best conversations happen under the stars with a cigar in one hand and a drink in the other.
What are some things you’re pretty sure you know for sure?
I know for sure that the older I get, the less I know for sure. ;-P
LOL. The older I get the more I forget…
I know for sure that the best view EVER is the beach at sunset. And, nothing beats the last day of school, except for the first day of summer. 🙂
Ah, lovely summer!
I know for sure that the sweetest sound is a baby’s giggle, that real love is challenging to keep and worth every second of effort, and that laughter is underrated.
Great post, Myndi!
Yes, yes, and yes.
I know for sure that writing “The End” is only the beginning!
Boy, that’s the truth!!
I know for sure that the older I get . . . what was the question?
HA! I think I just said the same thing to…someone…somewhere…….
I forget.
🙂
I totally agree with Jennifer.
Thanks MG!
Me too.
Oh, I agree with all of those (except #5) and all the comments.
I know for sure the older I get, the less I care what people think of me. My family (husband, daughter, son) are the most precious people in the world to me. If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing well.
As for #5 ~ I’d pit your prairie sunset against a beach sunset any day of the year. There is nothing like the glow of surf against the dark ocean with a hint of light reflecting off the water. Gorgeous. Trust me, I’ve seen a prairie sunset (lived in a small town in South Dakota for a spell), they’re pretty, but not up to a beach sunset. You need to come out here and see for yourself. 😉
Though I’ve never seen a prairie sunset, I can attest that Tameri is point on with the description of the beach sunsets. It is one of the most beautiful to watch. 🙂
😀 I loves me a good beach sunset, too! Mmm…the salt air, the waves, and that glow. Yep, it’s good. Very good.
I know for sure I’m not nearly as smart as I use to be or at least thought I was. 🙂
LOL! Homeschooling has taught me that. Sometimes I look at the curriculum and think I’m supposed to teach them THAT??? I have no idea what THAT is.
Traditional school next year is probably a very good idea. 🙂
As a California girl, I have to agree with Tameri and Emma. And sadly, I have never gotten the chance to visit Sonic (despite all the ads they show on TV, the closest one is 60 miles away), but I’ll take your word on the Coke.
I’ve learned that a girl can never have too many shades of pink lipstick, that my instincts are almost always spot-on, that quiet time is the best present I can give myself, that dreams are meant to be pursued, and that between my friends and family, I have the best support system that anyone could ask for.
Lovely post, lady!
AMEN Sista!! Luv it!!!
I’m definitely outvoted on the prairie sunset thing. 🙂
Love your list!!
One thing I know for sure is you feel more powerful with your toes polished and your lipstick on! Great post, Myndi!
That’s the truth. If my toes are chipped I’m always funky.
LUV LUV LUV the things you are sure of and echo the same thoughts and feelings. I think, for me, Lena summed it up just about spot on!
Fabulous post!
Lena’s list is great!!
I’m pretty sure there is nothing on earth cuter than a baby anything.

Yes. Baby ANYTHING trumps everything in cuteness.
Except for bats. Bats of any age or size creep the hell out of me. Big time.
The magic ingredient to sonic’s coke being so great is….. it’s ICE!- no joke! lol
I loved this post!
Their little ice pellets are so great. They’ve turned cold/refreshing into an art.
You are so right, if mum isn’t happy no one’s happy.
We are the masters of our universe and that’s a fact. You have four spawn. I have three. And mine are soooo much older. But even now they need me and I believe that need will never leave them. The key to surviving EVERYTHING is to have a partner who’s up for it. And you’ve got that! Worry only about the stuff you can do today. And give your children the gift of confidence and self esteem to deal with tomorrow no matter what it brings.
Our children will come and they’ll go. But what I say is that I (we) are the safety net/anchor that keeps them grounded in the now. As a culture and society we’re in the middle of a tsunami of change and we’re all learning as we go along. We can only do our best and ‘let them go’ to learn everything they need to learn to survive. That’s it. Scary but true.
And what an amazingly wonderful picture of a happy child. Love it.
Sage words, sweet lady! And, yeah, our little Took is one happy gal!
#3 and #’s 6-10 Totally! No children of my own, so can’t comment on the kid-related issues, and I don’t smoke or drink, so…. I would dare to see your prairie sunset with one over the Puget Sound, but then again, it’s the same glorious sun, and sounds like our locations are our homes, which is where the heart is. 🙂 No contest!
I love how so many people feel passionately about the sunsets where they live. There must be something to that!
Yep, happiness! 🙂 It’s contagious.
Fabulous post, Myndi, and comments … sunsets, babies, family, friendship, lipstick and nail polish, +++ … was anything missed? I know for sure that every day is a gift!
