SECONDHAND BOOK REVIEW: Half Bad

secondhandbookreviewTITLE:  Half Bad

AUTHOR: Sally Green

GENRE: Urban Paranormal YA

WHY I PICKED IT UP: The title intrigued me. The inside leaf blurb caught me. The quote pulls on the back sealed the deal.

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT IT: You guys, this is truly fantastic urban paranormal YA. For so many reasons. The protag is a DUDE. Not just a dude, but a dude who sounds and acts like a dude, not a dude who sounds and acts like he was written by a female author. And you care about him immediately. And you root for him the whole time, even though you’re totally scared that the thing he’s trying so desperately to do (meet his father) is going to utterly ruin him.

THIS BOOK, YOU GUYS. This is really phenomenal YA in its genre. If you are at all into urban paranormal reads, you have to check it out. If you’re not, think about checking it out anyway. It’s that good.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE ABOUT IT: All my negative feelings about this read are feelings I’m supposed to have, feelings the author would want me to have. I loathe the bad guys. Except for one of the bad guys who I’m not really sure is all that bad. And that makes me confused, and I hate it and I love it because I’m not sure at all what’s going to happen with that character.

Ugh. So good. So, so so so good.

secondhandbookreview000OVERALL RATING: Five stars, for real.

If you want to check out Half Bad (and you seriously should because IT IS SO GOOD), click here. Bonus? It’s a series, and her other books are out! You have to love it when that happens. I haven’t read the others yet (because as we all know, my teeny-tiny book budget modus operandi is to grab most of my reads at the Goodwill), but I will be setting aside cash in next month’s budget to buy the rest of the series. If that doesn’t tell you what you need to know about the quality of this book, nothing will. 🙂

Go buy it, enjoy it, and remember: Authors love and need and lust after reviews. If you pick this one up and read it, review it too!

As always, loads of love,

red
